“Final Round” History

Many years ago in the city of Chicago, an unlikely duo met and formed what would become a lifelong friendship.  She was an accomplished award-winning author producer and filmmaker. He was a world-famous former boxing champion.

In the early days of their friendship, the two collaborated on a manuscript for a book about a female boxer who boxes for family.  Years later a mutual friend of the two, a Chicago area trial lawyer who had set aside her artistic endeavors after working her way through law school as a ballroom/disco dance instructor, charmed by the concept of a female boxing for her family, sat down and wrote a screenplay about a young single mom who becomes involved in a boxing reality TV show to get money to support her child.  “Final Round,” an independent film being shot in the Chicagoland area, was the result.

“Final Round” is currently in the preproduction phase.  All members of the Chicago boxing community and boxers and their families and friends in general, are invited to contact the production team if they are interested in participating in some capacity in “Final  Round.”  We are currently seeking boxers, especially female boxers, to participate in group gym and boxing related scenes.  Additionally, Chicago area boxers who have achieved status within the boxing community may wish to make a cameo appearance and film.

A portion of the proceeds from this film will be donated to organizations dedicated to pension and health benefits for boxers and retired boxers and their families.
